Internet Nostalgia, etc.

It's times like these, when I'm half-on, half-off a nostalgic fandom kick that I just... desperately miss the whole concept of LiveJournal's fanfiction communities that were devoted to a single fandom. I remember being 16 to 17, and perusing/lurking page after page after page of this one series's tight-knit, yet public LJ comm, and being absolutely astounded at the different perspectives on the characters and themes. And the ships! The two OTPs I didn't know I wanted to read about but dove in anyway and wow is that an excellent interpretation of the characters' reactions; the NOTP that I never knew I had and was surprised at how I physically recoiled in my pink wooden chair in my room at the thought of it. And, the cute canon couple getting a chance to have a quiet birthday date that they never really got to have in canon. I remember being so ...sad when I realized, after a year of checking with no updates, that the community was done and over with, and there was no more.

I think that's part of why I just dump all of my writing under one single username on AO3, instead of making a bunch of different accounts for different genres or ratings. I want to have a hub for all my writing, not just bits and pieces scattered through the internet like a digital horcrux or whatever. I want everything to be available at all times to me, rather than behind a password I can't for the life of me remember. It scares me a lot. Anyway! This reminds me to back up my own writing on the ol' external hard drive, and download some of the older fic I have bookmarked on AO3! Have a good Wednesday, dreamwidth!
